Learn how to really hit- Do you have to look inside the box or outside the box?
Let’s explain what looking inside and outside the box really means. People really do not use the term “inside the box” but one can assume it means all public information about hitting that most everyone come across. Since there is a lot of information or variations of information, the box is full of goodies for anyone to pull out and try.
Then there is the “outside the box” lol at hitting which is information that is found by accident or by a person who really is searching for different answers to help him out. So what is it about thinking inside or outside the box that can help you out as a hitter?
As a hitting coach for over 20 years who specializes in getting hitters out of slumps and training hitter to hit for more power while improving their batting average, eventually I found the techniques that really worked were not easily found. So one could say that I am an out of the box thinker. Really though, to go out if the box and become a problem solver you have to learn how to go “in the box” of your own mind first before you go “out of the box.” How does one do that?
Learn How to Really Hit
First you have to know there is a problem. Believe it or not most hitters never fully realize there is a problem with their hitting skills till there career ends. They know there is a struggle, but really they never seriously try to solve the problem. We call these hitters that are stuck in the box. They are happy being in the team and contributing any way they can even though they know deep inside that they do not hit to their potential. Really they do not have the time to work their way out of the own box that is restricting them.
Remember inside that box is mostly doubt and information about hitting that is not going to get them to the next level. Once the struggles of hitting begins the getting out if the box becomes harder. You may get extra coaching or professional instructing sure; but most instructors we stuck in the box too and this is why hitters do not get much better when trained by the m. How do we know this?

We have learned to sit on top of the eagles nest and observe. Hitting is in a major depression now and has been for a good 10 years. High and Cleve baseball players average about a .265 average with 0 home runs and poor slugging percentages. Minor Leagues is worst with a .250 average and players are lucky if they hit 2-3 home runs throughout the year. Surprisingly, the Major Leagues is no different from the minor leagues as the average batting average per team is .253 which is worst since 1972.
This all just did not happen overnight. The steroid era ended in pro ball and the new BB Core bats added to the problem of hitters not figuring out the baseball swing in time before this profession hit. We can all blame it on the bats if we want. If that is the excuse than welcome to the depression or just being an average hitter. Didn’t your dad ever tell you for every problem there is a solution?

That question is important because it is key in getting out of the box and really starting to think about how you can take advantage of this hitting depression and resolve the problems with hitting on your own. Basically to think out if the box you must be willing to be different, think more independently, find like minded instructors who think this way, and ask intelligent questions. So what are these intelligent questions?
First you must know that most hitting coaches are not asking the intelligent questions about hitting. They want to know about hitting mechanics but there is more to that. The ultimate question is finding a way to hit the ball harder and farther more consistently than most others.

All the traditional,”in the box information out there right now answers questions on how to hit for more contact or how to hit for more power; not a mixture. If you want both you must learn how to think and train “out of the box.”

The Moneyball Training Formula that I have been using for over 20 years is much different than traditional philosophies and works very quickly. It helps hitters get out of slumps within days and extended training helps them raise their batting averages and slugging percentages simultaneously within the first season learning the system.
Hitting right now is stuck in a depression matrix. Learn to get out of the matrix, open the lid on it and break out of the box before it is too late!
